It is intended as a guide to identify charities and other organizations in Pima County that accept donated items or items that need to be disposed of or recycled. This is not a complete listing nor a substitute for further research. It is a good idea to call the organizations on this list ahead of time to verify what they will and will not take and to see if your item(s) will be accepted. The City of Tucson provides a household hazardous waste program. Waste products include toxic chemicals, poison, flammable liquids or materials, etc. If you cannot drop your items off, you can request a home pick-up for a fee of $25.00 added to your monthly bill. Call to make an appointment or submit an online service request.

Our Medical Loan Chest is a “lending library” type that carries wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commodes, shower chairs, and tub transfer benches. Whenever the need arises for something in this area – and we have the particular item in stock – we’d be pleased to lend it to you free of charge. And, if you have wheelchairs, 4-wheel walkers, bedside commodes, shower chairs, or tub transfer benches that you no longer need, contact the office at 520-296-2461, and we will be glad to have you drop them off. All items must be cleaned and in good working condition. This is what good neighbors are for – helping each other out!

Pima Council on Aging accepts donations from the community of new adult incontinence supplies. All brands and all sizes are put to good use. Partially opened packages are also accepted. Donated supplies are made available to medically needy low-income individuals living within Pima County, mostly aged 60 and over, who have no other resources to obtain such supplies.

Recipients have been affected by poverty, fixed income, terminal illness, or natural disasters. PSMA distributes these items at no cost through a network of partner agencies. These agencies must refer individuals in need of these supplies.

Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports (SAAS) provides fitness & wellness activities and recreational and competitive sports opportunities for people with physical disabilities. SAAS offers wheelchair basketball, tennis, and softball, plus wheelchair fitness and skills classes through a partnership with the City of Tucson Therapeutic Recreation. SAAS has a fleet of handcycles, and recumbent trikes loaned to people and available at regular group rides along The Loop. SAAS has a peer mentoring program matching newly injured with peers who have lived experience with paralysis, limb loss, and other disabilities. SAAS CARES Project Renew the wheelchair refurbishing program collects donated wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, and mobility scooters for refurbishing and redistribution to people in need.
