Help at Home
Do you or someone you care for need help performing essential daily tasks?
Pima Council on Aging offers in-home support to those who struggle with performing activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, going to the restroom, cooking, and cleaning. Our team provides services, forms and information in Spanish or English to meet the needs of our community. We can also accommodate the needs of speakers of other languages including ASL.
If you have difficulties performing these essential tasks, call PCOA’s Helpline at 520-790-7262 or email PCOA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our case management team of highly trained professionals will conduct in-depth assessments, both on the phone and in person. These interviews help us understand your individual circumstances and needs, allowing us to identify what community resources may be needed.
Please be aware that there is currently a waiting list to be assessed for eligibility to receive in-home services.
Some services may include:
- Adult Day Health Care
- Home Delivered Meals
- Housekeeping and Chore Services
- Lifeline Emergency Alert Services
- Help with Bathing
- Time Away (Respite) for Caregivers
Personal care services may include bathing an individual, helping them dress, and assisting them with toileting. Housekeeping services provided by in-home care agencies include sweeping and mopping, changing bed linens, and cleaning the bathroom. Respite care is provided to an individual so that their caregiver can have a little time away - time to do something fun or relaxing, run errands, or go to their own doctor appointments. Respite care services may include personal care (helping the person bathe, toilet, etc.), light housekeeping, preparing meals, as well as providing companionship for the person they are caring for.
Personal grooming services provide haircuts, manicures, etc., at an individual’s home. A personal assistant can provide shopping, Rx pick up, transportation, and other non-medical services.
