Government Officials

Many services for older adults rely on government funding or regulation, like the Older Americans Act, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. It is important that your elected officials hear from you. If you have questions on pending legislation or would like to take action to help older adults, please contact (520) 305-3415 or visit pcoa.org/how-you-can-help/advocate.

Local Municipalities

In Pima County there are multiple local municipalities including the City of Tucson, the Town of Oro Valley, the Town of Marana, the Town of Sahuarita, and more. Each town can pass ordinances that effect people and businesses within that jurisdiction.

The OEOP team investigates complaints of discrimination within the City limits related to employment, public accommodation of City facilities, and housing discrimination. (Complaints regarding housing discrimination are referred to the Southwest Fair Housing Council, which has enforcement authority. The City would enforce source of income discrimination for violators of Ordinance #11959.)
Complaints regarding discrimination by an employer, organization, institution, or business entity within Tucson's city limits with less than 100 employees can be addressed by contacting the OEOP office or filing a complaint form on the City of Tucson's OEOP webpage. However, the City has limited enforcement authority and generally recommends filing employment discrimination complaints through ACRD/EEOC. Resources and information are available from OEOP.
