Animal Resources
Organizations and businesses around the community provide services for pets and their owners. These services include animal shelters, animal protective services, emergency pet clinics, euthanasia and cremation, in-home veterinarians, low-cost vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and wildlife rescue and removal. If you see the abuse of an animal or animal hoarding, please contact the Pima Animal Care Center at (520) 724-5900.
Animal Shelters & Protective Services
Animal shelters are located throughout Tucson. All animal shelters have pets available for adoption and most have fostering services. Many shelters also offer low-cost vaccinations and spay/neuter services. Protective services are also offered in Pima County for animals in danger.

The Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Southern Arizona is designed to assist law enforcement, criminal justice, and animal protection professionals in identifying and successfully prosecuting crimes against animals. ACT also provides information that may be valuable to the public in helping to prevent animal cruelty and other forms of violence. We also offer a public non-emergency tip line for reporting potential animal cruelty/neglect.

Hearts That Purr Feline Guardians is not an animal shelter but rather a private feline retirement home. Our mission is focused on helping senior and geriatric cats who become homeless due to the illness or death of their human guardians. We rescue elderly cats who have outlived their owners when space is available.
Our Feline Guardian Lifetime Care program provides “plan-ahead” protection of one’s cat for those without a trusted friend or family member willing to take on this responsibility should a cat outlive its owner.
Our Senior Citizens and Senior Kittizens Foster program matches capable elders in our community with older kitties in need of homes in a long-term foster care arrangement and helps with the cost of care.

The Animal League of Green Valley

The Animal League of Green Valley is a non-profit, volunteer-run, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to keeping cats and dogs off the streets and in homes. Our homeless animals' services include shelter, spay/neuter, veterinary care, training, and adoption. It has also grown to include helping needy pets so their families can keep them in their homes.
