Volunteer at PCOA
Volunteers are the heart of PCOA. Whether you’re offering a friendly smile at a Memory Café, helping older adults stay active through Healthy Living programs, or lending your organizational skills in our office, your time and talents make a lasting difference.

Administrative Volunteer
Help keep PCOA running smoothly behind the scenes.
- Assist with filing, data entry, phone calls, and other administrative tasks
- Support multiple departments that serve older adults
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus but not required
Memory Café
Bring connection and joy to people living with dementia and their care partners.
- In-person role; training provided
- Create a safe, welcoming, judgment-free space
- Focus on participants’ interests and abilities, not limitations
Healthy Living
Support older adults in staying healthy, active, and engaged.
- Good communication and listening skills are helpful
- Volunteer leaders help facilitate small-group programs such as A Matter of Balance and Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions or Chronic Pain
- Training and ongoing support provided; no healthcare experience needed
Medicare Volunteer
Help older adults make informed choices about their health coverage.
- Opportunities to assist by phone or in person
- Provide unbiased, accurate information about Medicare options through PCOA’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
- Training and certification provided; no prior Medicare knowledge required
Caregiver Support Group Facilitator
Provide encouragement and resources to family caregivers.
- Background in Counseling, Social Work, or Chaplaincy preferred
- Facilitate one or more caregiver support groups across Pima County
- Offer resources, guidance, and emotional support
Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Be a voice for residents of long-term care and assisted living facilities.
- State certification and training provided
- Visit assigned facilities regularly to meet with residents and address concerns
Property Tax Credit (PTC) Volunteer
Help older adults living on limited incomes receive up to $527 from the Arizona Department of Revenue.
- Screen for eligibility and assist with the Arizona 140PTC tax form (not full tax returns)
- Training provided; bilingual skills a plus
