Emergency Lock Boxes
Residential lockboxes provide a way for Fire Department personnel to enter your locked home during a fire or medical emergency without damaging entryways or breaking windows. Lockboxes are thick, steel boxes mounted to your home or hung from the door. A spare set of your house keys are kept inside. Only the fire department keeps a key to your lockbox. You must go through your local fire department for lockbox purchase and installation instructions. Each fire department has their own instructions. If you are not sure which fire district you live in, call Rural/Metro (520) 219-2060 and they can tell you which district you live in. If purchasing a lockbox from https://www.knoxbox.com/ the starting cost for a lockbox is $160.00. Some districts offer lower cost lock boxes through their fire departments. Lockboxes must be purchased through the fire department that operates in your district. The Tucson Fire Department cannot access lockboxes in the Northwest Fire District and vice versa. You cannot reuse your lockbox if you move to another fire district. Once the lockbox arrives and you have installed it or you can contact your local Fire Department to see if they provide assistance with lockbox installation, your local fire department will come to your home and place a spare set of your house keys inside. You will not be given a key to the lockbox. If you would like a demonstration or have other questions, call your local fire department and tell them you are interested in a residential lockbox. We offer Programs and classes at low or no cost. Some programs include Senior Safety Academy-receive free fire and life safety and fall prevention information and hands-on training, including fire extinguisher training. Free Home Safety Check- Free Safety Items are installed with an appointment. (Vial of Life, Smoke Alarm, CO Alarm, Fire Extinguisher) We also have the Knox Box Program. Residents must purchase a lockbox from https://www.knoxbox.com/ Lockboxes. Other Programs include CPR-AED-First Aid for a minimal fee and Home Safety Inspections-FREE smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, CO alarms, and home safety tips to any District resident. Call for an appointment.

The Rio Rico Medical & Fire District's primary function is to serve emergency services to our customers within the Rio Rico Medical & Fire District and the Nogales Suburban Fire District boundaries. Additionally, we offer interfacility transport services on patient transfers from the hospital and clinic facilities within the Nogales and Rio Rico area to alternate destinations for higher medical services not provided in Santa Cruz County. Alternate care options are treatment and referral services for certain medical conditions and telemedicine options for stable patients who need guidance through an online medical physician for treatment or care options. Community Health Paramedicine (CHP) services are offered to residents of our community who need are in need of education and resources available to help with their chronic health conditions. Appointments are required for CHP services; please call the main number to set up an appointment.
