Stroke and Aphasia
Aphasia is a comprehension and communication disorder resulting from damage or injury to the specific area in the brain. Stoke is the most common form of aphasia. If you or a loved one have experienced a stroke or suffer from aphasia, these resources can help connect you to support in the community.

American Stroke Association provides stroke resource library, support groups, StrokeSmart magazine, stroke helpline, and newsletters, and raises awareness of stokes. We also offer a Stroke Family Warmline. The Stroke Family Warmline connects stroke survivors, their families, and caregivers with an American Stroke Association team member who can provide support, helpful information, or just a listening ear. Because our trained stroke specialists are always helping callers, so they might not be available to speak with you immediately. But don’t worry! A stroke specialist will call you back as soon as possible.

Stroke Resource Center of Southern Arizona

Members of our organization personally help stroke survivors and their caregivers connect to the community resources they need as they learn to live with stroke. We provide support groups for stroke survivors and their caregivers (via Zoom and in-person as health regulations permit) and offer in-person day retreats and other activities throughout the year (as health regulations allow).
