Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which the body has high sugar levels for prolonged periods of time. If you are on Medicare, check with your plan to see if diabetes self-management training and/or consultation with a dietician are covered benefits. A doctor’s order is generally required.

PCOA provides healthy living classes and workshops that include enhanced fitness, balance, healthy living with ongoing health conditions, healthy living with diabetes, and healthy living with chronic pain.

Enhanced Fitness is a one-hour class held three times a week that focuses on increasing your strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility.

A Matter of Balance is a class where you learn environmental and behavioral changes that reduce your risk of falling in eight two-hour sessions.

Healthy Living with Ongoing Health Conditions consists of six two-and-half-hour workshops that teach practical skills to help you manage the daily challenges of living with chronic health conditions.

Healthy Living with Diabetes consists of six two-and-half-hour workshops that teach techniques to assist individuals and their caregivers living with type two diabetes.

Healthy Living with Chronic Pain consists of six two-and-half workshops that teach how to deal with primary and secondary chronic pain.
