Mission: OLOC represents Lesbian Elders in a spirit of inclusiveness to promote Lesbian visibility. We come together to preserve our herstory, confront social injustice, and give and receive support for our later years.
We focus on ageism, sexism, lesbophobia, racism, anti-Semitism, ableism, and other oppressions that affect Old Lesbians. We approach these issues from multiple angles. Since the pandemic started, we have been holding Zoom events and running various groups online, including panels on Lesbian culture, sexism, Ending White Dominance, support groups for widows and caregivers, ASL chat, Lesbians of Color, and more. OLOC publishes email and print newsletters and maintains a website, Facebook page, and email forum to keep Old Lesbians connected and educate them on the issues we focus on.
We also have fun! Our local chapters meet monthly for activities they plan. Our National Gatherings include music, dancing, comedy, and more-serious workshops, speakers and plenaries, Lesbians of Color Day, the Old Lesbian Pride Award Presentation, and much more. costs
Membership is by donation. There is no cost for activities other than attending the National Gatherings, and financial assistance is available for those. It covers most expenses, including travel, but not all meals, and a $100 payment is requested.

Support groups provide safe, welcoming, and confidential settings for you to share your experiences and emotions, as well as your questions and wisdom. You can learn and practice managing stress as you connect with others. PCOA provides monthly support groups in various Pima County locations. Support groups are open to any adult providing care for someone 60 and older or someone of any age with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

End-of-Life Planning
Having conversations with family, health care professionals, and close friends are important for planning your end-of-life care. Organizations like PCOA can help you begin those conversations and give you reliable information on filling out your advanced directives. In addition, these plans allow you to have the care and treatment you would want if you no longer can make the decisions on your own. The sub-categories here will assist you in this process. The Arizona Advance Directive Registry is hosted and maintained by a healthcare organization called Health Current/Contexture. As a result, a person’s end-of-life care plans are accessible by participating healthcare professionals as part of their electronic health record.

Shubitz Family Clinic is a family medicine clinic that provides free primary healthcare services to uninsured patients in Tucson. The clinic is run by the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson medical students who provide care under the supervision of volunteer physicians. This is only 1 of 8 in-house clinics that the medical students run.

We serve patients with no other healthcare source, and as such, we do not accept patients with health insurance plans, including AHCCCS.

Testing for HIV, HEP C, and STIs. Care services for people living with HIV include psychosocial, meal delivery, case management, housing, and pet food services. Syringe Access Program for anyone needing to exchange used needles for new ones; this includes needles used for diabetes care. Our new clinic, SAAF Health, offers primary care for anyone at no cost. Our Anti-Violence program provides help to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community that finds themselves in a dangerous relationship. Buyer's Club is open to anyone needing to purchase vitamins and other wellness items at a discount.

The Southern Arizona Gender Alliance (SAGA) is a nonprofit located in the unceded territory of the Tohono O'odham and Yaqui. Founded in 1998, SAGA has undergone many transformations as our Trans and Gender Nonconforming (TGNC) community's needs are ever-changing. Our mission is to uplift gender euphoria and TGNC BIPOC artists, and our vision is to nurture Southern Arizona to be the most trans-affirming region in the US by 2050. We carry out our mission by providing Arizona Trans Workplace (ATWork) training; Trans Care Packages; 5 monthly support groups (General Meeting, Desert Sisters, Gender Outlaws, Desert Boys, and Families Transformed); TrOutings (Trans-Outings: community building events); medical and therapist recommendations; and legal assistance primarily about the name and gender marker change. We work towards our vision by holding firm to our abolitionist values and gratitude and pursuit for Black, TGNC, and Disabled folk's liberation!
