Meals and Nutrition
Proper nutrition is vital to remaining healthy and aging well. PCOA provides a variety of outside resources that can assist depending upon your situation. These options range from meals delivered in your home to grocery shopping services. Some services may be private pay, but there are non-profit organizations that also work to alleviate hunger and get homebound adults nutritious food.

Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona (MMSA) has been delivering medically-tailored meals, regular socialization, and enhanced community support to homebound individuals with disabilities throughout Pima County since 1970. Our mission is accomplished with the help of over 300 community volunteers and nine local hospitals and healthcare facilities that prepare low-cost, special diet meals for the vulnerable adults we serve. Mobile Meals delivers freshly-prepared, medically-tailored meals to seniors and adults with disabilities who cannot shop or cook meals for themselves. Nearly 90% of our clients are low to extremely-low income adults with physical and mental health comorbidities such as diabetes, stroke, amputation, cardiac and respiratory distress, renal failure, cancer, blindness, and dementia. Many of the younger adults living with multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, schizophrenia, severe depression, and PTSD (especially veterans). Serving 500 homebound clients annually, meals are delivered by trained and compassionate volunteers Monday through Friday and are freshly prepared to meet each client’s specific dietary needs. Meals are delivered along 33 daily routes in 25 zip codes to neighbors in Tucson, South Tucson, Vail, Corona de Tucson, Sahuarita, and Green Valley.
